Raukkan:
Regenerating Country.
Strengthening Community.
A Ngarrindjeri-led restoration in partnership with Regenerate Australia. Planting is now underway, bringing healing back to the Coorong and creating dignified, on-Country work for the next generation.
A partnership with

On Country: the first seedlings go in
Follow the Rangers, The Forktree Project and our team as 25,000 locally grown seedlings are planted, including a community-designed Pocket Forest.
Meaningful on-Country employment is also growing, with 18 Ngarrindjeri Rangers now working across land management, leadership and training pathways, with balanced participation from both men and women.

The vision: healing land and culture together
Our work seeks to heal the land, restore at scale, and provide long-term work for young Ngarrindjeri men and women to care for Country, grounded in cultural knowledge and environmental science.
This is not just environmental work – it is about healing the land and culture. This work begins – and stays – with the Ngarrindjeri community.
About Raukkan
A community-driven restoration in South Australia’s Coorong, co-designed with Ngarrindjeri Elders.
Raukkan means ‘meeting place’ in Ngarrindjeri. It sits on the shores of Lake Alexandrina, within the Coorong, a wetland of international importance. Our work here heals the land, restores at scale and provides long-term work for young Ngarrindjeri men and women caring for Country, grounded in cultural knowledge and environmental science.
This is not just environmental work. It is about healing land and culture. The work began with the Ngarrindjeri community, and it stays with them.

Why this matters now
Decades of land clearing, wetland drainage, soil degradation and climate change have placed intense pressure on the Coorong’s fragile ecosystems. Much of the land along the river system’s fringes is heavily degraded, offering little habitat for native species.
The project restores biodiversity where it is needed most, using native species chosen for their ecological value, cultural significance and resilience in a changing climate.
It also responds to an opportunity gap. First Nations people are almost twice as likely to be outside the labour force as non-Indigenous Australians (ABS, 2022–23), and the gap is wider in regional areas. On-Country work at Raukkan is helping change that story.
The work has begun. Help it grow.
This program is creating more than jobs. It is rebuilding ecosystems, strengthening culture and restoring pride and belonging. Choose how you’d like to support the next stage.
